State Park Service Cuts Announced

According to a report by Zach Behrens on Oct 27, 2009 on LAist.com, these are the service cuts for our local State Parks:
  1. Topanga State Park - reduced hours, closed camps, closed some restrooms, reduced cleaning, reduced trash service
  2. Malibu Creek State Park - reduced hours, closed camps, closed some day use, closed some restrooms, reduced cleaning, reduced trash service
  3. Will Rogers State Historic Park - reduced days, reduced hours, closed some restrooms, reduced cleaning

Not to mention the lifeguard reductions coming to Leo Carillo, Malibu Lagoon and Point Dume State Beaches.

Eventually the sign in the photo above will have to be removed as a safety hazard. And this crack in the fire road is already a hazard to bikers. I didn't have to walk far to take these photos to illustrate why we don't want any more service reductions.

We think the level of service has been unacceptably low for at least a decade! But it's bound to get worse given the size of the budget cuts just adopted.
